Manifest Flower Coasters
In Collaboration with Designer Kathy Hoang and her brand The good Feelin’ Studio
Kathy reached out to me about creating a product together and I was super excited to make her design become a real physical product!
My role was to take her design and recreate it in Solidworks and then 3D print them into stamp molds. These stamps were pushed into air dry clay (watch me utilize some of my pottery skills!) to mold the proper shape of the coaster. We went through several iterations of the mold to ensure that we were both achieving the look that she desired, but also something that we could easily create multiples of. I learned a lot about molding and ensuring proper draft angles, controlling humidity for multiple materials, and adjusting CAD models specifically for 3D printing.
The raised tabs on the outer flower cut mold provided more even pressure and the design was adjusted to ensure all details were visible/paintable.
Kathy painted them as per her color scheme and then we both coated it in clear resin to waterproof the coasters!
We think they turned out great and we sold plenty in her online popup shop!
